Reselling on eBay
How to find products to resell on eBay
There's no permanent list of “best items to flip” — what sells changes with seasons, trends and how many other sellers pile in. A repeatable way to check each idea is worth more than any list.
Five checks before you buy
- Sold, not asking, prices. Filter eBay search by “Sold items”. Asking prices tell you what people hope for; sold prices tell you what buyers paid.
- Sell-through. Several sales in the last few weeks beats one lucky sale months ago.
- Fees on the total. eBay's final value fee applies to the item price plus postage, and there's a per-order charge on top.
- Postage and packaging. Bulky or heavy items can eat the whole margin.
- Returns. Budget for some buyers sending items back, especially clothing and electronics.
Categories that tend to be harder
Branded fashion, cosmetics and electronics carry higher counterfeit and returns risk, and some brands restrict resale. Fragile goods raise postage and breakage costs. None of this means “avoid”, just “check more carefully”.
