Data & profit methodology

VERNTIC shows estimates, not guarantees. This page explains exactly where each number comes from.

Where the data comes from

• Every scan searches live listings on Amazon UK, AliExpress and eBay UK at the moment you run it.
• We only keep product pages that show a £ price. The buy price you see is read from that exact listing, and the link goes to that listing.
• Each deal shows when its price was checked. Prices can change after that.
• The resale price is an AI estimate of a typical sold price. It is not yet matched to sold listings, so every deal links to real eBay sold results for you to check.
• Listing text is treated as untrusted data and is never allowed to give instructions to our AI.

How net profit is calculated

Net profit = expected sell price − buy price − selling fees − payment fees − shipping to you − shipping to buyer − VAT on sale − import duty − currency conversion − returns allowance − other costs.

• Selling and payment fees use published UK fee schedules (version 2026-09-uk-v1): eBay ~12.8% + 30p, Amazon ~15.3%, Etsy 6.5% + 16p + 4% + 20p, Depop 3.3% + 45p, Vinted and Facebook local 0%.
• Shipping, import duty and currency costs start as Unknown. We never quietly count an unknown cost as £0 — the deal shows the profit "before unknown costs" until you fill them in.
• ROI = net profit ÷ (buy price + shipping to you + duty + currency cost). Margin = net profit ÷ sell price.
• Break-even sell price is the price where net profit is £0. Max buy price is the most you could pay and still hit your target ROI.
• You can change every assumption on the deal page.

How confidence works

Confidence starts at 50 and moves up or down for each check, which is listed on the deal page: exact listing price, image captured, condition stated, all costs known, price freshness and positive net profit. We also extract barcodes (UPC/EAN/GTIN), ISBN, ASIN, brand, model number, variant, condition and bundle size from the source listing and compare them with the resale listing when one exists. Conflicts (e.g. 128GB vs 256GB, pack of 1 vs 2, new vs used) lower the score sharply. Without a strong identifier match to a real resale listing plus sold-price evidence, confidence is capped at 65 — below "High". Anything we cannot verify (seller rating, stock, restrictions) is shown as Unknown.

What we don't do

• We don't buy products or create listings for you.
• We don't check seller reputation, stock levels or platform restrictions automatically yet — check these before buying.
